The varieties of Chinese tea that are available are truly extensive, and there are many different types that are grown during each Chinese dynasties in China.

The History of Chinese Tea

Chinese people are in fact believed to have enjoyed tea drinking for more than 4,000 years now, and legend even has it that Yan Di, who was one of three major rules in China in ancient times, tasted all kinds of herbs in order to find medical cures.

As the story goes, one day he was being poisoned by some herb that he had ingested and a drop of water from a tea tree dripped into his mouth and he was saved.

Chinese tea as a drink truly prospered through the Tang Dynasty, and tea shops became incredibly popular during this time as well. Chinese tea is still incredibly popular today, perhaps even more so because there are people all over the world who drink Chinese tea, as opposed to just the people of China, as it was in ancient times.

In regards to Chinese tea types in the China trade industry, Chinese tea can basically be classified into seven types which are as follows: white tea, green tea, oolong tea, black tea, flavored tea, compressed tea, and instant tea. It can also be then further divided into two more basic groups: basic tea group and the reprocessed tea group.

The materials for the basic tea types are only that of the fresh tea leaves that are plucked from the tea plants, and according to different processing methods and different oxidation degrees of the polyphenols, the basic tea types would include that of the following six types: white tea, yellow tea, green tea, oolong tea, black tea, and dark tea.

On the other hand, in regards to the reprocessed tea group, this refers to any of the basic teas that are used as materials for reprocessing, and sometimes other additional materials are added as well. Also, according to different processing methods, the reprocessed tea group can basically be classified as the following: scented teas, spiced teas, compressed teas, extracted teas, fruit flavored teas, health teas, and so on.

There are also many different locations where you can purchase these teas, and you can usually find them for an incredibly reasonable price. If you have not tried any of these teas, you should, because the health benefits and advantages that you can receive from them are great.
